About the author
During this interview Jason Sorens discusses the Free State Project with Luis Figueroa. They talk about the main reasons for the creation of such initiative and explain the primary goals they wish to achieve. Sorens describes the impact these cities have had in the public spectrum and elaborates on the enormous acceptance it has had in many countries. Finally, Sorens clarifies the universal character these cities have, as well as the various opportunities the concept provides for individuals who believe in freedom and understand its full value in order to achieve prosperity.

Jason Sorens is assistant professor of political science at the University at Buffalo, SUNY. His areas of interest include secession, federalism, ethnic conflict, and the political economy of American states. He is founder of the Free State Project and author of the book Secessionism: Identity, Interest, and Strategy. Sorens holds a PhD from Yale University.
